Featuring Starry Designs in SAPlanet Wedding Page
Published May 2nd, 2008 in +everything else, wedding items. When I first developed the idea of setting up a wedding resource page for my website, the first 2 persons I have in mind were Cindy, of Starry Designs; and Cynthia, of Beady Girl.
Let me begin with Cindy…
I knew Cindy from Flickr, I was new to Flickr then, and I would add anyone who added me as contact. I reckon that since we are both from Singapore, Cindy added me as her contact, so I added her too. I had no idea who she was.
I was later told by another crafter about Cindy, and given her Etsy shop to visit. I was completely stunned at her exquisite craftsmanship! I was completely dumbfolded when I saw her 4 digit figure for sold items!
I remembered it was late at night, and I asked Mike to look at Cindy’s nest collection, Mike was amazed with such neat wire-works!
We become good friends when Cindy initiated the group - Singapore Etsy Team. We started to chat over MSN regularly. We have a lot in common (sadly, except age…LOL) and we met up for the first time when she returned from Oregon. There was no moment of awkwardness despite our first meeting (Ruth of Sparklethots joined us too).
Apart from being a friend, I am also a fan of Cindy’s works, (oh yes, I am going to own one of her pieces pretty soon) I have seen a couple of nest designs available, but honestly, I have yet found anyone makes better nest jewelry as Cindy does. I often wondered, ‘how many pieces must a person makes to perfect the skill so well?’ I realized quickly, I had been asking the wrong question, I reckon it’s not just the quantity that counts, but the talents and determination to strive harder that may determine the end products.
She agreed to my request very candidly when I asked for some photos of her pearl and nest collection. The pearl and nest collections are very suitable for weddings. I was a bride myself, I dread to wear the common pieces which are vastly available in the standard jewelers. I would love simple, yet elegant pieces, something that is uniquely me. Every handmade produce is unique in its own way, and if you prefer something else, Cindy can customize it to your needs too, then again, I would always trust the experts when they do have advices. (I am customizing a piece of jewelry with Cindy, so I am going to trust her opinion too, and I will post it up when it’s ready eh… excited excited….)
Having Cindy’s works featured in my wedding page is akin to hosting a star in my website. Although a strong seller she may be, she has this humble personality that amazes you. I firmly believe that any crafter should not lose the humility, in order to continue to excel in our skills, and generate creativity cells. Only when we are humble with our works, we will not fall into the trap of complacency which hinders continual improvement.
I am not sure about you, but I would like to see some hair accessories from Cindy though.
